These can be made up prior to a camping trip, just add water and heat. At home, spoon out equal quantities of flour, oatmeal and dry milk, toss in a few raisins or cranberries, and put in a small plastic bag (quart), one for each morning of the trip. At the campsite, dump the contents in a skillet (not a saute pan), add water until all the powder is absorbed, add a few drops of olive oil, sprinkle on some flax powder and cinnamon, cover the pan and cook on low heat. When it's flippable, flip it over, cook a bit more, and put it (we call it a scone) on a plate, cut into sections, for a delicious nutritious breakfast that will get you up the hill and back again. Currently we're heading out on a nine day trip, and we've got ten breakfasts, ready to ramble. |
