Re: chocolate cake recipe needed
This is the one that is use everytime and it works very well

Ingredients
4 oz (120 g) semisweet dark chocolate (40-50% cocoa)
5 eggs
¾ cup (165 g) sugar
½ cup (1.2 dl) vegetable oil
1 cup (2.4 dl or 110 g) all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 tablespoons (0.45 dl) water

Ingredients for Glace and Frosting
12 oz (350 g) apricot jam
2 tablespoons butter
7 oz (200 g) semisweet dark chocolate (40-50% cocoa)

Method
Preheat oven to 350 deg F (Gas mark 4 or 180 deg C) and grease a 9 inch (23 cm) cake tin, lightly dust with flour.
Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt it with the water in a double boiler (over hot water).

Separate egg whites and egg yolks. With an electric mixer whisk the eggs whites until forming stiff peaks, add gradually half of the sugar while mixing.
In a separate bowl whisk the egg yolks with the remaining sugar for one minute using the electric mixer.

Add gradually the vegetable oil, one tablespoon at a time, whisk well between each time oil has been added. Add the melted chocolate and mix well. Transfer to the bowl containing the whisked egg whites.

Sift in the flour and baking powder, add vanilla extract. Fold everything carefully together using a spoon or a rubber spatula.

Transfer to the cake tin and bake at 350 degrees until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

Leave the cake to cool in the tin, it is recommended to place it into a refrigerator for at least one hour before slicing. When completely cold, remove the top of the cake, and slice the cake through the middle to make two layers.

Use half of the jam to sandwich the two layers together. Coat the torte thinly with the remainder of the jam. If possible, wrap the cake with plastic and put it into the refrigerator for 1-3 days before adding the chocolate icing.

Break the chocolate into small pieces and melt it with butter in a double boiler (over hot water).

Let the mixture cool to room temperature, and spread it evenly over the torte.

Place the torte in the refrigerator to harden the frosting.

Re: chocolate cake recipe needed
This is now my go to chocolate cake recipe (courtesy of King Arthur Flour) especially when camping. When taking it camping I like to pre-measure all the dry ingredients and put them in a ziplock bag with the wet ingredient list and the directions for baking written on the outside. I have also doubled and quadrupled this recipe for making large birthday cakes for kids. If you don't want the cake to stick line the pan with parchment paper.

1 1/2 cups (6 1/4 ounces) All-Purpose Flour
1 cup (7 ounces) sugar
1/4 cup (3/4 ounce) cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon espresso powder, optional
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) vinegar
1/3 cup (2 5/8 ounces) vegetable oil
1 cup (8 ounces) cold water (original recipe), coffee (next inspiration), milk (later inspiration), or 3/4 cup water and 1/4 cup rum (latest inspiration)

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

Measure all the dry ingredients into an 8" or 9" round or square cake pan; if you use an 8" pan, make sure it's at least 2" deep. Blend the ingredients together thoroughly with a fork or whisk and scoop out three holes, or indentations.

Pour the vanilla into the first hole, the vinegar into the second, and the vegetable oil into the third.

Take the cup of cold liquid (water, coffee, milk, etc.) and pour it directly over everything in the pan. Note: If you've used espresso powder, adding coffee will make this a mocha cake. Stir all the ingredients together with your fork until they are well blended.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes. Serve right from the pan; warm from the oven, this Cake-Pan Cake is wonderful with a big glass of milk (skim, of course!) Yield: 12 to 16 servings.

Re: chocolate cake recipe needed
here is a good one too:

Ingredients

1 (18.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
1 cup sour cream
1 cup vegetable oil
4 eggs
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together the cake and pudding mixes, sour cream, oil, beaten eggs and water.
Stir in the chocolate chips and pour batter into a well greased 12 cup bundt pan.
Bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until top is springy to the touch and a wooden toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Cool cake thoroughly in pan at least an hour and a half before inverting onto a plate If desired, dust the cake with powdered sugar.
