Interesting Finds While Hiking
One time while I was hiking, I found an old metal kettle near a small pile of large rocks. It looks almost like it was homemade. Have actually used it a couple of times.

Another time while I went hiking with a couple of friends in Wisconsin, we stumbled the remains of what looked like a really small and old cabin. It had just a room and a cooking area.

So how about you guys? Found anything interesting during your hikes?

Re: Interesting Finds While Hiking
Went geocaching once with a few friends and we came across one. When we opened it, we saw several guns and dynamite inside. We called the police and turned it in. Gotta admit, the contents really freaked us out. I mean, who would cache those kinds of things. Not sure though which was the most interesting part of it: finding the cache, or having to spend a few minutes with the police after turning it in to help them out with the report.

That's really freaky, el.

One of my boys found a few stone arrowheads while we were hiking a few months back. We picked the best ones and then had them framed and now it's in his room.

Found a few stones with some petroglyphs on them, or at least I hope that they are petroglyphs. Have been meaning to bring it to the university here to have it checked out, but I completely forgot about it. Thanks for starting this thread. You just reminded me about it.

Good luck on those stones, josh!

We also found quite a lot of petroglyphs while we went camping in the Navajo Nation as well as a burial ground and several dwellings complete with bows and arrows. A friend of ours who's an anthropologist or archaeologist (I forget) told us that these were remnants of the Anaszi Indians.
