Help on Fire Extinguishers
While we were over a friend's house, her husband told us about witnessing a class A Motorhome catch fire while they were camping a few months back. Honestly, we never really paid attention to the fire extinguisher that we have in our Motorhome until he told us that story. We checked and saw that the one that's in our Motorhome is quite small, and I don't think it would do us much good in case of an emergency. We're now looking into replacing it with a much larger one. Can anyone suggest what type of fire extinguisher would be most effective and where can we go out and get one?

Re: Help on Fire Extinguishers
You want an A-B-C extinguisher. They come in various sizes, brand name Kiddie and Sentry. Google (images) fire extinguisher or contact your local fire department on where to purchase.

Re: Help on Fire Extinguishers
I'd suggest to just get more than one fire extinguisher to put in your Motorhome so that you can easily find one in case of an emergency. You can check with your local fire department which one would be the right size and kind for your Motorhome. While you're at it, you may want to also see if they offer any lessons on how to use the fire extinguisher so that you'd know what to do and how to use it in case of an emergency. No use of getting one or more fire extinguishers if you don't know how to use it.

Re: Help on Fire Extinguishers
After reading that, I have to admit that we really were a bit complacent about fires and stuff. Since we won't be going out for our first camping trip until April, I'm actually thinking of getting a couple of new fire extinguishers for our Motorhome. And might even consider adding some smoke alarms as well...if that's even possible.

Re: Help on Fire Extinguishers
What the matter with you, you don't have smoke alarms in your RV? :-) Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Target, K-Mart have shelves of them.
