Cash or Credit Card?
Getting ready for a camping trip/reunion with my family next week. The trip will be around 1700 miles and from the looks of it, we'll be needing a little over 220 gallons. Have been checking on the route we'll be taking, and found that there are a few gas stations that give a $0.05 discount per gallon if you pay in cash. Thing is, my credit card also gives me a $0.05 per dollar that I will use to pay it for. I'm not sure if I computed it correctly, but it seems that I will be saving more if I just use my credit card, right?

Savings wise, you're better off with your credit card. The only problem is the hassle of having to swipe it more than once because of the limits gas stations impose.

Re: Cash or Credit Card?
I'd suggest to check with your credit card company if the discount will be applicable even if you do multiple swipes in one gas stations since a lot of them have limits on how much you can gas up at one time if you're paying by credit card. If there won't be any problem, you'll be saving more using your credit card since it's by the dollar and not by the gallon.

Check with your credit card what are the applicable terms and conditions to avail of the discount. I had something similar to that with one of my credit card. I thought it was a great deal, until I found out that it's only applicable with a certain gas company.

I agree with mike. Like what they said. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.
