Campgrounds Near New York City
We're planning a trip this September to take a few friends of ours from overseas out for a bit of camping. It's the first time that they will be coming here and they pretty much enjoy the outdoors. One request that they asked was if we could take them to New York City and see the sights there. So we figured to spend like a month in New York. A few weeks camping in the Appalachian Mountains and then the last few days being tourists in New York City. We're thinking of staying in NYC for about 2-3 days only. Is there an RV campground that you can recommend to us near the city where we can stay during this time?

You can try Liberty Harbor. It's just about 15 minutes from NYC, and you can get to NYC via a tour bus right on the premises.

There is also Newburgh KOA who has bus service to the city.

The downside of Liberty Harbor is that there is not that much amenities. It's pretty much like a parking lot, at least in my opinion. But since you mentioned you'll be there for just a couple of days, and I'm assuming that you'll spend most of your time in NYC anyway, then it would be an okay choice.

Have to agree with you on that, harold. Stayed there a couple of months back when we met up with some relatives. Good base camp, but nothing more.
