Couple of things I would like to suggest here..
1st: Camping at or near the tracks is a great way to explore the area and actually get involved with the track itself. We've done this in the 90's seeing that we were members of the SCCA.. which members can take part in the tracks activities as well as get a discount on their stay. Stays would include camping in the pits as well being allowed to enter pits etc.. But remember you must be willing to work the track during peak hours.
2nd: I would suggest that you contact Camping Road Trip admins/host and seek out a "vendors" or "verification" pass to the site.. (assuming they have one) this will verify that you are who you say you are and your seeking legitimate responses from campers..
