RVer's Beware!
I made reservations at Sunset King's Lake RV Resort for a 2 night stay. Having never been here before and I had heard it was a pleasant place to stay. I booked a reservation with my credit card. I thought it odd that they wanted to immediately charge for one night.

My wife and I decided to go and ride out and check out the facility. When we got there, we checked in with the front office and was told it would be okay to look around. As we were driving back to the site that was to be given to us for our stay, we realized that this type of camping was not for us. The lots are so close together that when you go to the bathroom your neighbor can hear everything that you are doing. The lots are extremely close together and privacy would be at a premium. Not what I would call camping at all.

When I returned home, I called the resort and asked for a refund. I was told, in no uncertain terms....they don't give refunds of any kind! I was even calling a week and one half week ahead of time. Which I felt was very unfair. I can assure everyone that I will NEVER stay at this resort for that kind of atitude by their staff.

It is a nice park if you don't mind staying in a sardine can. If this resort is so hard up for people to stay and feel it necessary to not return their money for a stay that needed to be cancelled and was given adequate time for a rebooking by someone else, it doesn't say much for their resort. The only thing that they should have told us in the beginning was to bring the K-Y because we got a good screwing from this park.

Happy Trails!

Re: RVer's Beware!
Sorry you had a problem, but we have been camping for over 47 years and YOU MUST ALWAYS ASK FIRST IF DEPOSITS ARE REFUNDABLE, I have never found a campground that required a credit card to hold a site that will give a refund.

Sorry to hear. That must really suck. I agree with MvMan1. Usually, whenever they would want to ask you to give your credit card to reserve and hold a site, chances are they are often non-refundable.

Re: RVer's Beware!
Sorry to hear of your troubles. Of Course they should have told you the deposit was refundable or not, then there wouldnt be a problem. At our campground we do require a one night deposit for holiday weekends. If you pay in full and give us at least 48 hour notice, all but the one night will be refunded. You have to understand that we may or may not be able to re-book your campsite. Remember that we have probably had a few reservations that we have had to turn away and now they have most likely made other plans.

We are not far from this campground, in Andalusia, Al. Look us up at www.shacrvpark.com
