Using Your Mobile Phone as a HotSpot
My husband recently got an iPhone5 and we noticed that it's got a feature that lets us use this as a wifi hotspot. I was just wondering if any of you have used your mobile phone as a wifi hotspot when you're out camping? How reliable and fast is it? How about the charges?

Most campgrounds we've stayed at offer free WiFi access so we haven't gotten around to use it.

It really depends on the signal coming from your carrier. Usually, the speed and reliability of the connection using it as a hotspot greatly depends on how you're able to view anything from your phone. As for the charges, it also depends on your plan and provider. Best to check with them.

Agree with madidi. Reliability and the speed of the Internet depends on the signal that you get on your cellphone. It won't do much good as a hotspot if you're getting a weak signal on your cellphone.

Same here. We don't also use the Internet that much while we're out camping. Since we got kids still with us, we want to set an example for them that while we're camping, not to spend too much time on electronic stuff and spend more time outside.
