My dog and I stayed here a couple of days during the week and found the campground to be clean and taken care of well by the campground hosts. There are bathrooms with flush toilets and running water that were clean spread throughout the camp. Each site has paved parking, a picnic table, fire ring, grill, bear-proof food locker, and plenty of shade. Water spigots and trash dumpsters are spaced in strategic locations.

Dogwood Campground is a beautiful site in which to stay. The area is very shady with evergreens and deciduous trees. There are flush toilets and hot, private shower facilities, piped water throughout. Each site has a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker. There are a few nature trails too. I went during the week and even though there were several campers, people adhered to the quiet hours. The campground hosts keep the facilities clean and stocked.

| It's a nice, wooded park that is kept clean. | It's a nice, wooded park that is kept clean. You have to access the campground through a bumpy dirt road of about six miles. Once there, it's paved. There are pit toilets that are kept clean. I reserved 3 nights, but only stayed 2 because the black flies are a nuisance during the day and completely distracted my dog from eating. Once I put the food in the bowl, they seemingly came from miles around to eat it. The evenings were nice though and I left without a single mosquito bite. There are a couple of nice trails to hike, but lots of dead wood along as they must have had a fire and insect infestation.

This campground is set in a very picturesque mountain setting near Palomar Observatory. There is a mixture of oaks and pines. Many areas are cleared of trees so stargazers can get a clear view of the stars. There are telescope pads near space 40. There are several pit toilets and one flush toilet bathroom that is apparently only open during the season. There are also coin-operated showers. Make sure to bring insect repellent as the black flies and mosquitoes are truly bothersome.

I come here often with my dog and enjoy staying here. I do realize dogs are not allowed near the water, but have never had a problem with staff telling me to stay back. The facilities are clean and there are lots of trails for walking and biking.

| Serrano Campground is a very nice get-away. | I stayed in the Evening Star loop with friends and found the site clean and well-shaded. The restroom facilities were very clean for a campground and the free, hot showers were nice. There were very few insects, which was awesome for a wooded site. In fact, I went home without a single insect bite after two nights camping. Because of the on-going drought, the campground prohibited wood or charcoal fires. Luckily, someone in our group brought a portable propane fire which was allowable. A coyote went through our campsite, but once it saw my German Shepherd, it decided to leave quickly.

Most of the sites have shade, some more than others. There are water spigots spaced throughout the campground and several vault toilets. Each site has a bear proof food locker, picnic table, and fire ring. There were lots of bugs at our site so make sure to bring insect repellent. Other, less wooded sites, probably had less insects.

| Nice area near Lytle Creek | The campground is set in a fairly picturesque area, with a view of the surrounding mountains. Most all sites have partial or full shade. Some of the sites would be a little difficult to pitch a tent. Review the campsite map before entering to find the double or single sites. I went midweek and it was pretty quiet. There are two restroom facilities, with running water. There are several water spigots throughout out the campground. Lytle Creek is easily accessible from this campground.
