| Peaceful and great location | This campground is right on the edge of town. We walked from the campground about 3 blocks to a little iced cream shop. The ability to camp right near stores and restaurants is rare. The campground is right on the edge of the canal which is a free flowing stream in this section. The campsites are just basic grassy spaces to park. I did not notice much in the way of provisions for large RVs. The bathroom and shower were in a poor state of repair, but there was plenty of hot water. I think we only paid ten dollars for a tent site.

This is a nice, generic campground in fairly, flat terrain. The camping area is on irrigated grass, so dust is minimal. The shower facilities were clean. The campsite is located close to town, and seemed almost urban compared to most campgrounds out west. I think there is a golf course nearby.

| Beautiful, but watch your back | This is a wonderful spot at the base of a mountain, or mesa, or whatever. The initial impression is that everything is clean and new. Camping spots are well arranged on a paved road and the shower house facilities seemed almost luxurious. There are little stone and gravel pathways through the camping area, so I walked our dog at night without stepping on cacti. Whomever arranged the campground did a great job of making it fit in with the scenery instead of imposing itself upon the landscape like a parking lot. We noticed that we could not pay at the pay station when we arrived in the evening. A sign indicated that we would need to pay at the ranger station in the morning. Hmmm? Warning sign that people are stealing the cashbox? When we paid the bill the next morning the the ranger confirmed that they had issues with criminals and that policy did not allow them to interfere with the criminals. Overall the park was quiet, beautiful, and seemed very safe. I would hesitate to camp here by myself if I were female, but there were plenty of other campers, and people (theft targets) with expensive motor-homes in the campground and nobody had any issues while I was here. The visitor center has some interesting exhibits, and the staff were very professional.

We arrived late and stayed at this campground because it was the first one we saw from the road. I think we paid $10 for a tent site. The stunning beauty of this location is hard to describe. There are cliff walls across the stream from town. The town itself does not have many residents, but there was a large herd of horses in a corral right next to the campground. The campground and corral were well irrigated and green, so this places makes a nice, peaceful oasis in the New Mexico scrub. The tent camp site is located on grassy playground next to a pavilion with lights, and electrical outlets. The shower house was the cleanest I have found in any campground ever. I'm not kidding--the place was spotless as in no dirt on the window sills, the floors seemed clean enough to eat on. The next morning I learned that I could have camped across the road at the actual hot springs for $6.00, but there are no showers or RV hookups located right at the hot springs. Doc Campbell's trading post located across the street has WIFI, gasoline, ice cream, and other amenities. An alternative government campground located at the Cliff Dwellings down the road is more or less free, but it does not have water, showers, or natural hot springs to sit in.

| Peaceful mountain scenery | We stayed here in a tent during a busy Saturday evening. The location is at the base of the Sandia Mountain, so it is as nice as you'd expect. We paid less than the $27 listed on campingroadtrip. I think it was $18 for a tent site. Even though the campground was filled, it was fairly dark and quiet. The tent camping area seemed nicer to me than the RV area as the tent area had trees, and shrubs around. The RV area was more like a parking area with hookups--nice, but not as memorable. The shower house was clean.

This is a wonderful location located on a little peninsula that juts out into the lake. There are wonderful views from all of the camping spots. We were charged $20.00 per night for a tent site instead of the $10 that is listed at campingroadtrip. We were very happy with every aspect of the place except for the condition of the shower house. The shower house was fairly new and clean; however, it was a bit run down. (missing tiles, doors missing hardware and suspended by wire ties.)
