| Base camp for Williamsburg attractions | Deluxe price at $70 plus. Would rather not have a site with broken glass particles at that price. Our full hook-up site sloped off hillside to make for a struggle to get level. Guess we were the unlucky ones to get it since they had plenty of full hookup sites that appeared much better. Kid friendly campground with pool and jumping pillow. Campstore well stocked but Walmart is only minutes away. Good interior roads to walk and bike.
Satisfied our need for base camp to see Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, VA Beach and Norfolk.
Would stay again but will emphasize level site.
We stayed here in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed 3 nights June 2014 & loved it. Would return again and again. Paved roads with full hook-up for a great price. Plus the view! (Shower in your RV as noted by another reviewer). Enjoyed hiking, seeing the wildlife and just relaxing in a beautiful place. Traveled across country from the East and we noticed elevation difference upon arrival. Camped here with friends and were assigned to group camping. Called to make reservation. Friendly staff and well maintained park. Made for a great base camp as we enjoyed area attractions- Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods.

| Great get-a-way spot to relax | Camped in travel trailer with full hook-up during June 2015. All paved roads were excellent for biking. Trails were as described in guide and uncrowded. Park was nearly empty during 5 night stay. All facilities including restrooms/bathhouses well kept. Fun to explore remnants of Rose Island. Short drive to Charlestown for groceries as there is no camp store. We stayed here as alternative to staying right in Louisville for an event at the Kentucky Expo Center. Pleased with our choice as it allowed us to bike, hike and relax while surrounded by peace and quiet. Loved seeing the turkeys, rabbits and deer. Employees were friendly and helpful.
Only negative - previous campers didn't pick up after their pet. No doggie bags provided by park to make that point clear.

| Advance reservations necessary, great for families | The lure of Lake Raystown has this campground near capacity at any given time, so plan ahead to get a reservation. Large selection of sites with paved roads. Most sites are spacious and offer shade.
