| What camping should always be about | If you want the best views of Big Sur, you should stay at Kirk Creek. The sights from the bluff overlooking the coastline are simply breathtaking. Aside from the restrooms, there are no hookups or other facilities here, so you're forced to chill out and commune with nature. The water here is not potable, though, so bring your own water. Also, no dump site, so make sure your tank is empty before you come here. The sites are not big-rig friendly, even though some websites say they are. It's isolated, but getting away to a place like this is good for the soul.

| Pretty campground with pine trees | One thing I can say about Sunset Campground is it's very pretty. There are pine trees everywhere and the sights are marvelous. However, unlike with North Campground, the sites are smaller and closer together. So if you have a big RV, you'd better go to North Campground instead of here. The sites here are more level, though, than those at North. There aren't any hookups here, and definitely no wi-fi or cable. There are bathrooms available but the showers and laundry are outside the campground.

| Quiet Retreat by the Lake | Absolutely love this campground. Have been going here for so many years. Very quiet. Great view of the lake. Water in the lake is so clear. Great place to go fishing and swimming. Recommended for those that want to just simply get away.

| Primitive but scenic campground | Lupine-Cedar Bluff is a very scenic place, lots of trees and lovely sights. It's only about 100 yards from Bass Lake so you can go fishing or boating there if you want. There is also a trail within the campground that you can hike too. Also, Yosemite NP is just a short drive away. There are a few things I didn't like about this campground, though, and they are: 1) the twisty roads that are tricky to drive; 2) the sites being too short; and 3) the rude manager. That the campground doesn't have any hookups is a fact I didn't really mind.

I like the rustic feel of this park. Lots of redwoods around so there's lots of shade and it's very quiet. Full hookups available with excellent wi-fi and cable TV. Very clean and well-maintained. The only thing I didn't like about this park is it can be difficult to park a rig through the trees or to use the slideouts without hitting a tree. Otherwise, it wasn't a big deal. This is our third time staying here and there's no doubt we'll return soon.

Made a reservation here in a waterfront site. Not really the best experience. On the upside, the trails going to the lake were okay. I wish we could say the same about our site. It was really unlevel, with a really steep incline that it took us quite a while to get it leveled. The fact that the site was really muddy only made things worse. Our view of the lake was blocked by the trunk of a huge tree.

Love this campground! Wide open spaces. Clean grounds. Sites really spacious. We often choose to stay away from the waterfront sites since they can be quite crowded for our liking. Really helpful staff. Accepts Passport America discounts. Very quiet at night. Very close to shopping and restaurant areas.

$70 for a night's stay at a KOA 5 miles from Niagara Falls is very expensive in my opinion, but it would have been okay for me if the place was enjoyable at all. The office was run by young people who don't seem to know what they're doing. The site we got was narrow and we're inches away from our neighbors. They've got full hookups but not cable and wi-fi is very slow. Moreover, there's no shade and the place is far too close to the freeway to my liking. I don't mind shelling out good money as long as I know I'm getting value for it. This KOA's service is not what I call value.

| Great, unbeatable location | The location of this campground is awesome. It's very close to the Visitor Center and the popular trails, and there's a well-stocked store nearby. The views from the sites are spectacular. It's first-come, first-serve here, so if you want to get a really roomy and level campsite, you've got to get here early. Some sites are pretty level but some aren't. Each campsite has a nice firepit and picnic table, though. There aren't any hookups here, and while there are clean bathrooms, there aren't any showers. No cable or wi-fi, but we got a very decent wi-fi signal using our Verizon card. But really, the location of this campground can't be beat if you're here to explore Bryce Canyon.

Stumbled into this campground on my way back to LA. It was pretty okay. The sites were paved with gravel, but were pretty small. The bathrooms were okay. The online store is pretty well-stocked. Lots of extended stay campers that seem to have the best sites. Good WiFi access but no reception for AT&T cellphones. The management could have done a better job in choosing the staff here. The lady at the front desk was so grumpy and lacked any customer service skills. Nothing much to do here. It's an okay place if you're looking for somewhere to stay for the night, but I wouldn't really consider staying here longer than that.

I love Utah it's my favorite state for outdoors activities. Awesome snowboarding in the winter and then 5 amazing National Parks for the summer, plus National monuments and Glen Canyon Recreation Area.
My favorite trail to hike is the Navajo trail in Bryce. Walking amongst the hoodoos and pinnacles is amazing. Love descending into Wall St.
What are other peoples favorite trails in Utah?

| Re: Arkansas Ozark Adventure Ideas | Hi Chris,
While I haven't personally been to the Ozarks I did a search on this site looking for Arkansas campgrounds that had tent sites and offered nearby kayaking and hiking trails and it came back with 16 options. There is a map at the top of the results that shows their location that you can zoom in on and use to determine if they are near a small town. When I put in rafting as an option it didn't come back with any, so I guess that info is missing or none of the 16 offer that nearby. However, there are links to websites and phone numbers that you can use to explore more.
Good luck,
Julian.
P.S. You need to use the Advanced Search on the campground page to get the 16 coming back with tenting, kayaking etc. - you need to be logged in too!

| Re: South of the Border - Worth a Visit? | I think so - but not more than once. It's very tacky, a poor version of Wall Drug Store in South Dakota.
Good for fireworks if you cannot get them in your State.

Guess Im still an old timer, I've been shooting with a 35mm Minolta for about 20 years now. I've been using it for so long I just can't put it down. Thought about getting a small digital camera once but I just love the way these old thick glass lenses look. You can't get that from most "point and shoot" digitals. The lenses aren't even made of glass, it's some cheap crystal stuff. Maybe Im a little bit nostalgic lol. I can also buy a second hand lens dirt cheap, especially compared to new digital SLR lens. I've seen them at Ritz, they cost more than my whole camera!! And good luck finding a used lens for those
I've been thinking about making a Flickr profile. I had a lot of my pictures from Savannah put on CD's instead of developing then all. Which is nice since I already have BOXES of photos! I'll have to post the link to my flickr profile once I get around to making it!!
Brian, what kind of digital SLR do you have?
