| Nice little KOA on the way to Yellowstone (June 2013) | My son and I spent six nights camping in a tent on a 10-day, 9-night roadtrip through Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana, and we ranked this as #3 of our favorite campgrounds on the trip. This is not to say it gets a B or C grade, but it ranks in our top three places to camp. The staff is super friendly, and the grounds/facilities were very well-maintained. There is also a little trail near the back of the campgrounds that takes you back to Rock Creek nearby. The campsites are a little tight, which is really the only reason for the four vs five-star rating we've given it. We would definitely stay here again on a return trip!

| Terrific people and terrific tent camping (June 2013) | My son and I chose this place on Campfinder.com because it was on our route from Mt. Rushmore to Devil's Tower, and out of six campgrounds where we set up tent, this one took a very close second place on our favorites list. We loved the staff, who were very accommodating despite our slightly late arrival (allowing us to catch our trout and cooked it up for us 15 minutes after close), and the grounds, although a bit crowded when compared to other campgrounds where we stayed, were fairly well-kept and nice. The babbling brook running through the grounds was a welcome addition to the tall pines and the blanket of stars overhead. For an independent campground, you can't find one much better than this one in the area. This is a very family-friendly campground. We will certainly return if our journey takes us back through the Black Hills.

| Terrific tent campground for hiking Devil's Tower | On our 10-day, 9-night road trip, we spent six nights camping in various campgrounds between Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana, and this was my son's and my favorite campground of all of them. The grounds were very well kept as were the facilities. They offer a nightly showing of "Close Encounters" for those interested, and there is a nice general store with friendly staff to assist you. The campground is literally right at the gate to the park, so it is a nice three-mile hike to get up to the base of Devils Tower. Top it off with spacious tent sites away from the RV's with great views of Devils Tower and red rock bluffs, and you simply have a great place to rest after a day of hiking. We look forward to a return trip!
