| A real hidden gem in this area. | The lake is up and there is a lot of activity on the lake, there are two major sights on the lake and Johnson Branch is on the north side and has about a 10th of the traffic as the south side. The JB has about 100 sites and I think about 11 are 50 amp all of those are drive-through. The best sites are all 30 amps and back in but since it was in the 90’s we parked in one of the 50 amp pull-through sites to stay cool. Rangers were personable and friendly especially since it was our first time to camp here, we went ahead and bought an annual park pass and paid $26 a night. All of the sites have water and electric and a sewer dump is close to the entrance. About the only negative is w/o the pass it is an additional $7.00 per day per person so the cost gets too high. Gates are locked from 10PM to 6AM but they give you a code so we felt very secure, and during the day it was quiet and after dark it was completely quiet. We will be back again and again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.

| It's come a long way but still has a long way to go. | McClain’s has recently become a KOA Campground; with that, there have been some improvements. This place has come a long way, but honestly it still has a long way to go. The folks were very friendly. They have paved most of the first two rows and these are long pull-thru’s. It would have been nice if they were level, front to back is no big deal but side to side should be a given. It seems that they are allowing the grass to grow back in naturally; we got there just after a rain and got to setup in the grassy muddy ground. The concrete is rather narrow and even though we parked on the left edge, we still stepped off into the dirt/mud going in and out of the trailer. I was also surprised by how noisy it was, I-35 is probably 3/10ths of a mile away and the train tracks about another half further. We had to run the A/C fan to drown out the noise at night especially the train at 2am and 4am each night. They have put up a bunch of Wi-Fi towers but I couldn’t get them to work with my phone or computer.
The one thing was the ants. I was up Sunday morning walking the dogs, the neighbor was out with a flashlight when she saw me she said her motorhome had been infested with ants. They had crawled up the power cord and water hoses and were all over her kitchen and entertainment center. We started checking ours and sure enough the ants were making a pilgrimage into ours as well. We are now back at the house, and we have spent three days cleaning.

| Feel the amenities are deceptive | First off we did not stay, secondly had we read the reviews prior to making the reservation we would not have made the reservation.
On the KOA website this park offers WIFI in the campground. We tend to like KOA's and have stayed is a several in our short RVing history. I was going to be in the area on business and after looking at their website I made reservations for almost a week stay. A lesson learned for me I then read some reviews and found out they do not have WIFI in the campground (it is only available in/by the office). I called to verify this and it was then confirmed and I had to cancel my reservation. Two things upset me, first they said they had an amenity they in reality did not, secondly when i did cancel they charged me a fee for canceling. Lesson learned

| Very laid back and simple park | The park is basically some older folks home place on the north side of town. Most are long term residents but everyone was friendly. We stayed a couple of nights without issue. It is right on the road so road noise was an issue especially early in the morning.

| One of the nicest parks we have stayed in | West of Amarillo a few miles so you're out of the hustle. Surprisingly quiet, the park is asphalt roads and large concrete pads. Folks when we checked in were very friendly. Only complaint was a good amount of weeds in the landscaping.

| Nice park just outside of Lubbock | We were in town for both business and personal time. The park has gravel roads and pads that are level. The folks that run the park are excellent. I think the only negative was the landscaping was in poor condition and really needed some attention. Despite that we had a very good stay.
