Sea of parked RVs

2010 marks the 11th year of the Rally and the 100th year of the RV and promises to be better than the last. With an estimated attendance of 4,500 RVs and 10,000 people a day, The Rally is the largest convention for RV lovers held annually at various locations across the U.S. The 2010 Rally will be held at Kentucky Exposition Center at Louisville, Kentucky, July 22-25. If you are a bonafide RVer, this is one event you can't afford to miss!

What can you expect at the Rally? Well let's start with the obvious; you get a chance to view more than 1,000 RVs, including the latest models. There will be over 500 indoor exhibitor booths displaying a wide range of RV-related products and services, not to mention the sweetest deals on them. Industry experts will conduct more than 30 seminars a day on topics ranging from healthy food on the road to RV troubleshooting techniques. The Rally pays homage to the RV Industry's Centennial year with an Oldest RV at the Rally contest, where the winner takes away 100 gallons of gasoline. There will be a display of vintage RVs at the Vintage Village.

Like all well-organized large-scale affairs, the Rally caters to the kids with a Youth program full of fun and games, freeing the parents up to enjoy some adult time. Golfers can tee off at the Golf Tournament. For live entertainment, comedian Bob Newhart, country singer Tanya Tucker and band Super Diamonds are all slated to perform. The Rally's Got Talent invites attendees to show their flair for singing, dancing, drama, or whatever your talent may be; the Rally wants to see it! Proud dog-owners can show-off their canine's skills at the very popular Dog Show. For those of you don't yet own a pet, but would like to, the Pet Adoption Days give you a chance.

Give back to the host city by participating in the Community Service drive where participants will help beautify a local area. Else volunteer for 25 hours at the rally and be reimbursed your dry camping fees. Speaking of fees, they range from $149 for one adult dry camping to $369 for 2 adults 30-amp electrical hookup for participants staying at the Preferred campgrounds and parking their RVs on site. If you wish to stay at and park your RV at one of the 22 campgrounds around Louisville, you can register as a Passport Attendee for $69 per person to gain access to all activities. Go to www.therally.com for more information.

So whether you are a novice road tripper, or a seasoned one, a Loner on Wheels or a family man, the Rally has something for everyone. Make sure you are a part of it.
