We are from NJ and plan on renting a 25 foot RV from CruiseAmerica. Our trip will start in Mesa, AZ and end in Massachusetts. We got a quote of $4,400 for a 16 day rental. In terms of logistics, we plan on driving from NJ to Boston (so that our car will be there), and then flying to Arizona to pickup the RV. Here is our itinerary: ○ Mesa, Phoenix, AZ ○ Grand Canyon Village, Arizona ○ Hoover Dam, Nevada ○ North Las Vegas, Nevada ○ Yosemite Valley, California ○ Redwood National and State Parks ○ Yellowstone National Park ○ Mount Rushmore National Memorial ○ Badlands National Park ○ Chicago, Illinois ○ Toronto, Ontario, Canada ○ Montreal, Québec, Canada ○ Tyngsborough, Massachusetts Between the four of us, we are planning on spending around $3,000 each for the whole trip (including gas & RV rental). We want to stay a few nights in a couple of the national parks and make brief stops along the way. Does that estimate seem low, high, or accurate? We love our family travel trailer and all of the little extras it has. This unit has a queen-bed in the front that is blocked off by a sliding door for privacy, sofa that folds out in to a bed, kitchen table that folds down to make a bed, and bunk beds (double-beds) in the rear. The kitchen has an island w/ sink, along with an outdoor kitchen as well that is equipped with a fridge, microwave and small propane grill. There is an outdoor shower and an electric awning for plenty of shade. There are two slides that give plenty of room on the inside. 2016 Coachman Apex: $125 per night (all rental rates are on a per night basis) with a 3 night minimum. My wife and I have been thinking about renting it out to other campers. Something like about 10 weekends per year. At least, we don't have to keep it in the storage for long periods of time so we pay less than what we did last year, and we can get some additional income which is always a good thing. Has anyone done something like this or doing something like this? What are the things that we need to have aside from the appropriate insurance? In fact we loved it so much that we are now thinking of buying one of our own. I really think everyone should try this at least once. The fees and rates are not as high as I thought they would be going into it, and there are rental centers all over the country. My question: Does anyone have any BAD experiences with renting an RV?
