Very nice campground overall. Lots of trees and decent space between sites. You cannot walk to the beach easily from your site as it is several miles away. Also very hard to get a reservation on short notice. Good campground store with free wifi in it. The park has great beaches but most close at sunset.

We stayed here in a Tent.

This was a wonderful campground. It is well maintained. The sites were private and spacious. The waterfront sites had a beautiful view. We didn't use the facilities as it was chilly and there were no heaters. The bike trails are a wide path that is separate from the road so there are no cars zooming right next to you. It's very safe for family bike rides with small children. There is free wi-fi at both the ranger station and the camp store. The museum at the main Fort is very informative. Be sure to check out the buttonwood trees at one of the dump sites - quite unique! Also, be on the look out for the Beach Hibiscus trees. They are huge trees that are full of blossoms. They have a ferry to Egmont Key and Shell Key Preserve. The weather was very windy so the ferry was not running while we were there.

We stayed here in a Class B Motorhome.

Fort DeSoto Park has a wonderful, relaxing campground. Sites are segregated by RV, pets and tents/pop ups; however all areas have waterfront sites. The sites are always clean and well tended, and the facilities are clean and in good working order with a washer/dryer at each building. There are 2 dump stations, a camp store, bike trails and numerous playgrounds within the camping area. The park itself has numerous beaches, kayak/canoe rentals, bike rentals, a snack bar/gift shop, picnic areas with pavilions, a dog park, a ferry to Egmont Key and 2 fishing piers.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.

Went for two days and stayed two weeks. Wonderful 'waters edge'' sites. Two sides to the Park. Fish just feet from your door. Visit the Fort, Beaches, Fishing Pier. Wooded sites with Elec and water. One dump just blocks from the main gate. My wife always asks, "are we camping at Ft Desoto? She loves it!! Call ahead...!

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.
