Description
Ocean Pond Campground

Ocean Pond Campground is located on the northern shore of its namesake, a naturally formed fresh water lake. Half of the campsites allow you to float out from your campsite on your favorite water vessel. You can swim, boat, hike on a part of the Florida National Scenic Trail or follow the Florida Great Birding Trail while never leaving the campground. 47 of the sites have a paved pad and a large open area for camping. 20 of the sites are arranged for primitive camping, with a pull in area and a tent pad. All sites have a fire ring and a lantern post. All sites are first come, first camp. Reservations are only accepted for The Landing, the ONF's group camp area. Call up to a year in advance to reserve your site at the Landing at 386-752-2577.

Jewel of a Campground Near Lakeland, Florida

Gold
January 7, 2013
Off the beaten path, this campground offers clean, beautiful, quiet, level lakefront and near lakefront campsites in idyllic settings both for RVs and more primitive campers at bargain rates. RV sites have water and electric while the tent sites offer water only. There are clean restrooms, showers, a coin-operated washer and dryer and a boat-launching ramp.

We camped there on a weekday in January and several spaces were still available when we arrived shortly after midday. Since advance reservations are not offered, it's likely that would-be campers who arrive weekends during high season could find themselves without accommodations.

We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome.
