Bear Den Campground, Spruce Pine, NC is a great place to go.
We just love it there and it is really a family campground. Lots of things to do in the park and also around the area! The staff there are very friendly. The grounds and bathrooms super clean. Great place for our dogs too.

We stayed here in a Travel Trailer.

This was our families' first camping trip so I have no other campgrounds to base this review on. However, we did enjoy this campground. Not a lot of people when we went and were isolated. We did stay by the bathhouse, which was fine by me since I have a 5-year-old daughter. When we arrived, the staff was very friendly and continued to be for the five days we were there. It offered swimming, fishing, paddle boating, canoeing, had an arcade and a park. The site itself was perfect for us, except the water connection was a bit far away from our actual site. If you are wanting wi-fi, then this wouldn't be the place. It came and went at our site. I didn't need it except to check the weather and upload pics to family. They do offer it by the office. Our bathhouse had two showers and three bathroom stalls and was clean. But since not a lot of people we never had a wait. Overall, I would definitely camp here again and recommend to anyone.

We stayed here in a Tent.

Your choices for camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway are limited...but Bear Den Campground offers just about all you need.

I read many reviews of the CG before my recent trip and I was a bit worried. Many reviews complain about the road that leads off the Parkway to the campground. I found no real problems with the dirt road, other than a pothole or two. It is wide and 2 vehicles can pass on the road. A lot of people also complained about the bath houses. Yes, they are older..but in great shape. They were cleaned at least twice a day. And hot water was never lacking.

When I stayed the campground was full. including a couple of group areas that added a bunch of people. That did cause some bath house waits, but that is to be expected.

Many people also complained about the WiFi. It is not campground wide and only available at the office for an extra cost. I did not use it...I'm camping...I want to be disconnected.

The camp workers were all very nice and helpful. The grounds themselves were also kept clean. The camp store was well stocked.

Sites are not level...you're in the woods on a mountain...so that's to be expected. Took me no time to level my pop-up. I did have to buy a 2nd water hose though because the water connection on some sites are oddly placed. No big deal, though.

Overall a good stay and one I would recommend to anyone traveling the Western North Carolina mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway.

We stayed here in a Popup Trailer.

Nice rustic setting, sense of isolation. It is right off the parkway with nearby attractions to see. The lower rating is because many parts of the access road are one lane only, which is precarious when you're in a motorhome towing a car and can't back up.

We stayed here in a Class C Motorhome.
