We stayed at this campground overnight in early April 2016, which is apparently their off-season. Most of the campground was closed and no campground personnel were present either during our arrival or departure. There were numerous, reasonably level, full hookup, pull-through sites near the entrance to which we were directed to when we made a phone call there earlier in the day. None of the other campground's advertised amenities appeared to be available.
When we arrived, after traveling several miles off of I-81 via curvy back roads, we found an "honor-system" payment deposit envelope and brochure waiting for us at the entrance and three other rigs already at the campground. The water, sewer and 50-amp electric connection worked as expected. Their cable TV has only low-resolution analog channels. Most of the channels had herringbone patterns in the pictures making them less than ideal to watch. The included Wi-Fi was surprisingly fast for a campground, but the fact that there were only a few campers there might have helped the speed.
The gravel roads leading to and from the pull-through sites had numerous potholes and desperately needed to be smoothed and graded. Since our Passport America rate for our overnight stay was less than $20, we were not disappointed with our overall experience, but would have preferred a campground that was more easily accessible to/from Interstate 81 even though the setting was very quiet.
We stayed here in a Class A Motorhome. | | Comments (0) |

My family made a reservation at the Lake Ridge Resort in Hillsville Virginia (owned by Legacy RV resorts out of Texas) for a family vacation. Our-special needs three-year-old had to go in for a last minute surgery, his ninth surgical procedure, and we were forced to cancel our reservation. When we called we were told that we would be charged a $10 cancellation fee, and we were left with a reasonably favorable impression and planned to return at a later date once our son was recovered. That was until we noticed that the remainder of the $61 deposit had not been refunded. When we called to inquire about this apparent oversight we were informed that their policy is not to issue refunds and to charge an additional cancellation fee. Upon learning this surprising news we decided that even though our still-recovering son would not be able to take advantage of the amenities that their website boasts, we would still use the cabin that we were paying for. We were then informed that not only were they charging us for the cabin, they had booked another family in it. Needless to say, we are extremely upset with this level of “customer service” from a “hospitality” company; not to mention the way we were spoken to by the manager Gary (who refused to provide a last name). We don’t get to vacation often (this would have been our first overnight trip since he was born) and were looking forward to this time away, that we are not able to | | Comments (0) |

| Nice enough place, if a bit pricey | |
If you want to keep busy while camping, this resort is a good place to be. The campground hosts do their best to keep their guests busy with activities, but if you want, you can still relax on your own. The staff are all very friendly people and they make you feel at home. The site we stayed at had full hookups and decent wi-fi but no cable TV. It's also quite level, big enough for our RV and secluded enough for some privacy. What we didn't like about staying here, though, is you have to pay additional fees for using their amenities, such as the pool, the water slides and the putt-putt. In the end, while it was a relaxing stay, it was a bit pricey for us.
We stayed here in a 5th Wheel. | | Comments (0) |
