Check-in was quick and easy, and the young woman was friendly. There are some pull through and many back-in sites. Most sites have some slope but nothing insurmountable. All sites have good separation, and the shady ones also have vegetation in between which adds sense of privacy. Our favorite was site #12, which was right on the lake. Utilities were well placed and worked well. Park has both concrete and dirt paths, and a swimming area with a nice sandy beach.

This is a great state park near Denton, easily accessible if you are traveling The staff was outstanding, I left keys on the office counter, and they called to check, bless them! The park is well maintained with nice shower facilities. We had a site on the water- Peaceful and relaxing.

| A real hidden gem in this area. | |
The lake is up and there is a lot of activity on the lake, there are two major sights on the lake and Johnson Branch is on the north side and has about a 10th of the traffic as the south side. The JB has about 100 sites and I think about 11 are 50 amp all of those are drive-through. The best sites are all 30 amps and back in but since it was in the 90’s we parked in one of the 50 amp pull-through sites to stay cool. Rangers were personable and friendly especially since it was our first time to camp here, we went ahead and bought an annual park pass and paid $26 a night. All of the sites have water and electric and a sewer dump is close to the entrance. About the only negative is w/o the pass it is an additional $7.00 per day per person so the cost gets too high. Gates are locked from 10PM to 6AM but they give you a code so we felt very secure, and during the day it was quiet and after dark it was completely quiet. We will be back again and again. We camped here in a Travel Trailer.
