Why a Class B RV was right for us!
Modified By DogMan on 9/20/2021 1:25:19 PM)
We have RV'ed for well over 50-years, but never full-time unless a month on the road counts? Trying to recall my first owned RV, well it was a family popUP and no A/C back in the 1960s. My first owned RV was in 1974-in a new FORD Econoline Van with only two front seats. Being a bit of a do-it-your-self'er. I have found scraps of carpet and had it on the flooring and walls. No kitchen or bathroom. Over the years many things worked well and I never got into 5th wheels or toy hauler trailers. Our big adventure came in owning our first class A motorhome a 2002-Forst River Reflection and then we jumped into our last class A, which was a Winnebago TOUR.

Best of all has been our new 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van 3400XD with six wheels down, by the up fitter CoachmenRV.com/Galleria, which they have four Galleria models and some other different models I think can be with or without "Li3" NOVA, Beyond models. Not sure which is Ford or RAM. First, we wanted to visit our daughter and have some more fun on road trips between Florida and Utah where the 8-grandchildren are going to school now. When our daughter was a teen she had no fun camping unless a friend was with her and some boys were also camping with their families. haha. She had to have "her hair spray" in her hair and was no fun in the heat and wind blowing through, a fun time today but not then.

After much consideration as to why a class B, As they are a bit costly, as much as many Class As costing over $180.000-us dollars on a new Class B. But were an older couple, so just the two of us and no washer and dryer, No his and her closets and no Kingsize Bed, or dining table and a Dry bath.. oh my. But this is camping after all and we need to learn how to rough it in the outdoors. Asking my wife where did you say there was a Marriott? lol Which is a bit more than RV Parks are costing along with a fine dining Restaurant, as we use the take-out service and sit in our Class B, by a lake, full of swains and ducks. In the small towns, we once flew past on the interstate with our Class As and flat tow, we can now drive into and explore the trees and low-hanging branches as we back into a parking space, so as to overhang into the grass next to the other vehicles trucks, and subcompact cars. Shopping and visiting historical towns was never so much fun as we take in the local parades, events in the small cities we once drove past with fears of low bridges or signs, wires, and such.

Now when we want to camp we can and in a smaller area, with a campfire, chairs under a large oak. If we need to get somewhere fast we drive on the interstate in the fast lane passing by some class As or trailers we once may have owned. Owning a Class B, is true freedom of the roadways, RV Parks, Shopping Malls, and historical small towns with small streets. With COVID in the air we do eat out a lot in our 2021 Coachmen Galleria and now with "Li3." which means more freedom from a noisy running all-night Generator(s). We don't have a Generator we have solar three 120-watt SUN Solar collectors that re-charge our Lithium-Ion Batteries which are very safe, some call them military-grade as they can take a punch by screwdriver into one and that still perform at 100% of what they have to give. We still have LP-gas, and a larger A/C at 20,000-BTUs working on 12-volts and will run as we sleep for 8 to 10-hours before needing a re-charge. But if parked and plugged into a 30-AMP or even a 110-outlet we are good for days as the batteries stay completely charged up and ready to unplug and GO.

But if you were to ask me if I would own an electric vehicle? NO, NO way not until they can go 500-miles with only 20-mins of downtime and that is running the A/C, Radio, and other stuff on one charge. Also, I can drive through was 2-feet high, and doing that in a electrical car may cost you 16.000-US Dollars for a newly installed battery pack. The Lithiums in our VAN are on the INSIDE next to our suite cases.

So if anyone is wondering why a Class B over a Class A, my answer is shown above. Happy Trails and Outdoor adventures everyone as we all have fun enjoying our outdoor lives. Stay well and be safe always.

DogMan - The posted thought above are my own.
