Possible towing problems with a Fifth Wheel
My friend's looking at getting a Mobile Suite 5th Wheel and plans to use his 2004 Chevy Duramax to tow it. The Fifth Wheel he's looking at has a dry weight of about 15,000lbs and I'm wondering if he might have any problems when it comes to towing it.

Re: Possible towing problems with a Fifth Wheel
There is a chance that your friend might encounter some problems towing his 5th wheel with it. A 5th wheel can easily weigh 17,000 lbs or more when you go and tow it during a camping trip. You friend needs to check what will be the overall combined weight for both the truck and the 5th wheel with everything already in it. It's also good to check what's the payload capacity of the truck once the 5th wheel is loaded and ready to be towed during the camping trip.

Looks like your friend's truck will not survive long if he does that. That truck has a max capacity of 23,000lbs. By the time that he loads up the trailer and then you get in the truck, it can easily go over 23,000lbs. The truck will be under a lot of stress.

I'd agree with everyone else here. The truck your friend is thinking of using to tow the TT might not have the required power it needs for it. He may want to consider getting a smaller sized TT so that the truck won't be pressured with all of the weight.
