The downside of this is that you don't get to try out the local fare. I usually pack food less than the usual amount whenever we go camping coz I usually spend a few days hunting or fishing when camping. Nothing taste better than enjoying something that you caught yourself.

You got a good point there, maximo!

Whenever we go out, we only pack enough food for the first two days 'coz we usually just want to stay in and rest especially if it's a long drive. On top of going out and do a bit of fishing, it gives us an excuse to check out the local restaurants near the campground.

That's true. Of course, it also depends on who we're camping with. Whenever my wife and I get the chance to go camping without the kids, we only pack a bit of the meals. But if they are with us, we pack a bit more. They can be quite finicky, and there are even times when they would get hungry at odd hours of the night. At least when that happens, they can just grab something from the refridge
