I decided to do some tent camping on my own a few weeks ago. I got my old tent which has always been a favorite since it's nice and big. Haven't gotten around to use it for about a year since we got our trailer. It was raining while I was camping, and I noticed that the tent is leaking on the sides. With all the household expenses rising, I'd want to deal with this the most affordable and practical way possible. That being said, is it possible to salvage this tent and fix this, or is buying a new tent the only option for this?

Personally, I'd say go for buying a new one. Leaks in tents can be remedied with patches, but they do not last long. Eventually, you'll have to keep on patching them over and over again. Definitely a hassle. |

Since you mentioned that the leaks are coming from the sides, it looks like the stitches holding the tent together is already starting to get brittle and a sign that your tent is already up for retiring. I agree with what liz said. It's going to be much better, safer and more practical to just go ahead and buy a new tent. |

Try bringing your tent to a local camp store. If it's just a year old, there might just be a small tear somewhere that can still be repaired. Otherwise, I'd suggest to go and get yourself a new one. |
