Popup tents -- your thoughts?
Our trailer is currently in the shop right now going through some repairs. We've been itching to get out and have been thinking about tent camping again. It's been quite a while, after all. We've been scouring for some lightweight tents, and we came across some lightweight popup tents. They look quite easy to set up, which is a good thing for us since we haven't done this in a long time. But of course, looks can be deceiving.

Has anyone tried using one of these? Are they really as easy to set up and pack again as they all claim?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty easy, if you've gotten some experience pitching a tent the old fashioned way. But personally, I won't recommend using them while camping, unless during the summer perhaps. They are way too light that they can easily be tossed around on a windy day.

Re: Popup tents -- your thoughts?
I agree with ej. Learned this the hard way. Got myself a popup tent back in college for my first camping trip with my friends. Setting it up wasn't much of a problem. But towards the afternoon, we had to deal with a rather windy day and my tent flipped. When it came time to pack though, I struggled a lot on having to pack it back. For some weird reason, it didn't fit the bag it came with.
