Are you planning to go using an RV or go tent camping? If you're going tent camping, I'd suggest booking with Virginia Lakes Backpack Outfit. We made some camping arrangements with them to entertain a few of our friends from overseas (they only do tent camping). The rates may look like it's expensive, but it's definitely worth it because the guides stay with you, provide the food and camping gear, set up camp and do all the cooking. All you bring is your bedroll, personal gear, fishing equipment and a sense of adventure. They can also provide tents and gear for you if you don't have any of them, which might be better since I'm not quite sure how likely your friend will be able to bring his fishing gear on the plane.
If you're going to bring your RV, you may want to try Indian Flat Campground which offers RV sites with hook-ups, tent sites, and two cabins. KOA also has a campground at Midpines. They are both located along the Merced River, which is a really good fly fishing spot. |
