| Quiet campground, don't drink the water! | This was a nice, quiet campground with modern facilities. There were showers & flush toilets. There are some sites that have electric hookups. I think only 6 or 8. I like this park because I could bring the dog. Most state parks in Jersey do not allow pets. We stayed in the off season, so there wasn't a lot going on. We stayed in site 36 (I think). It was right next to the walkway to the pond and the "deck." Although the water from the pumps is supposed to be potable, it's not. I was sick two nights in a row and it took me that long to figure out I was the only one that ate the food that I used that water to cook with. Live & Learn. The park is peaceful. I did not get to any of the trails. My dd broke her ankle on the bike trail the second day we were there!

| Awesome Park right on the Delaware | I've stayed here twice so far in the off season. They have both pit toilets (composting) and modern toilets and showers. The showers are a little nasty, but if you are that dirty you can use them, otherwise ... that's what they make baby wipes for. The hiking in the park is great with several miles of the AT, among other hikes. I've only stayed at site 77, it's not right on the river, but very close. It's on the outside of the big field loop. I would not want to stay in the field. Sites 1-23 are all tent only sites. You can bring a camper, but there are no hook-ups. I think generators are allowed (I don't use one) but last time I was there someone was using one.

Re: Camping out for tickets | My 18 yo dd & her bestie camped out in NYC for a free Jonas Brothers concert this past Summer. They met two college students from NY and they have been keeping in touch with them via FB since. They took the train in, walked to the GMA studio and camped on the sidewalk for the night. They had a great time! I was a little worried, but there were so many other people camped out they were fine.

Re: Let one person lead a camping trip | I hear you! For the past several years (this year not included) we would camp with a large group. I have 5 sisters, their significant others, 9 nieces & nephews plus 3 kids of my own. We used to all camp together in 3 or more sites next to each other. I was always in charge of the cooking -- the oldest of the girls -- which I didn't mind. However, the older of the nieces/nephews/kids and even a couple of my sisters like to party and no matter how much I told them to "turn the radio down or turn the damn car alarm off" they just didn't follow camping etiquette. I would spend every night of the trip worrying someone was going to call a ranger or fellow campers would complain or we would get kicked out. What I do now, is camp several sites away from the "partiers" and then I don't have to worry about them getting in trouble. To each their own. I'm not trying to deny them having a good time, just do it respectfully. This year, I have not camped with them at all and although I do miss them sometimes, I love my peace & quiet more!
