| You must camp here! Love the place! | Arrived 06/29/14 - Departed 07/05/14 This is a fun place. I am going to add my only negative now. There are many large trees. Sometimes it is tough getting your camper into a spot. And sometimes even navigating the roads while pulling a camper.
OK so, there are 4 pools for kids of all ages. Fishing and crabbing on the bay. They do rent boats and kayaks. Activities are abundant here. Café with a good variety food they will cook. Camp store is well stocked. You can even buy fresh seafood to cook or have it steamed there. It is a beautiful campground to just walk around. You can sit on the beach and watch sunsets. I have been to campground resorts before but this one tops them all. The folks that work there will show you the Virginia hospitality. Bath houses were clean and well-maintained. Lots of activities through the weekend. If you are bored here it is because you want to be.

| Great place to stay. Many things to do, but still relaxing. | Arrived August 2nd
Departed August 4th
It was just a quick get away for us. We have been there one other time and had a great time so we wanted to go back. We stayed in site 703 next to the pond. This was a great spot. Everyone at Spring Gulch was very friendly and helpful.
Site
Our site was perfect. We had a great view of the pond, easy to get in and out of. There was plenty of room on both sides so we did not feel like we were on top of each other. Looking at the map of the park, most spots look good. If you are on the upper level I don't think there is a bad spot to park a camper. Some sites are not as wide or deep as others, but when you call to make your reservations they should be able to help navigate you to the right size spot. Sites 200 to 400 on the lower level are nice for trailers but again ask about the size restrictions when you call. Navigating around some of the roads can be tricky. I took the wrong way to get to my site and had a difficult time getting my trailer over the bridge. There was an alternative route that was much easier had I asked the best way to get there.
Playground
The lower play ground was small, more geared towards younger kids. We road by the upper playground and there seemed to be more for kids there. My kids love a good playground, but with so many other things to do this was not an issue.
Pool
There are two, one in the upper campground and one in the lower.

If your dog is still young, then the more exposure you give him to camping the easier it will get. I know many people that bring their dogs and have since they were puppies. Yes it is not easy at first. They must be trained. I started camping when my dog was eight and set in her ways. She is fine around people, even large crowds. She would not lay down outside though. With activity everywhere she always wanted to see what was going on. When we got home we were relaxed...she was exhausted.
