Aluminum or Glass?
A few friends of mine are planning to head out to New Mexico next year for the summer. I heard that the place is notorious when it comes to electrical storms. Call me paranoid, but now it's got me thinking. The trailer that we have now has an aluminum siding, and I'm worried that because of this, we might end up being more susceptible to getting hit by lightning. We're thinking of changing it to glass, but a friend of mine said that that's a worst situation.

Any advice about this will be really appreciated. I know it's a ways off, but I want to give myself enough time just in case I might need to change the siding.

Re: Aluminum or Glass?
I was reading through this article that staying inside a building will still be the safest thing during an electrical storm. But if you happened to be camping, an hard top, metal camper would be the next safest thing. You mentioned that the siding of your camper is aluminum. What about the top? If it is completely made of metal, save for the windshield and windows of course, I think you'll be safe.

I also heard that all-metal RVs are much safer. But to make sure that you're completely safe, make it a point to check out the weather before you head out. That will minimize, if not prevent, the chances of you getting hit.

I agree with melissa. My friends have always told me when it comes to my health, prevention is always better than cure. The same principle applies when it comes to RVing. Before you head out, make sure that you check the weather conditions so that you can avoid the chances of having to deal with electrical storms.
