Re: Back Country Camping Site
Like to add the following on this list:

1. Take time to master using your equipment before heading out. You're basically on your own out there (unless your backcountry camping with a buddy), so you need to not only know how to use your equipment but also how to fix it if it starts conking up.

2. Stack up on antacid. Even if you got those water filtering stuff, you can't really say how well it will sit in your stomach, and having a bad stomach is one of the worst things to have while you're out there.

3. Take your time. You're out there to enjoy the outdoors, so take your time and just soak everything as much as you can.

harold: You're very welcome!

Matthew: I agree! You really need to take quite a lot of time to really know the place before you head out, no matter how much camping you've done.

the Alban: Crazy is a very light way of putting it. I'd personally think those that do that are suicidal!

angela: Yes, definitely!!!

Thanks so much for sharing this, padmej! Glad that you emphasized the part to bring someone a bit more knowledgeable about backcountry camping. Lots of crazy people try to go out and do it on their own with very little knowledge, only to end up in a lot of trouble.

I'm just curious...are there any seminars or classes that I can get to learn more about how to do this? I've been pondering on the idea of doing a bit of back country camping, and I've decided to try it out this year (hopefully).

I've been actually looking around for something similar. It's been a very long time since I've ever done something like that, and I could sure need a refresher.
