Florida Inspection Station - What to Expect?
We're heading over to make a stop over at Melbourne, Florida to visit some relatives on our way to Rock Crusher Canyon next week. Apparently, our route will be taking us through an inspection station located in the Florida-Georgia border. The last time we've been through one, we were only asked a few questions by the officer. Is this going to be the same thing, or are they going to require us to open and inspect the entire RV? Not that we have anything to hide, but I just don't want to be caught off guard and get my kids worried when we pass through it.

Don't stop, RV's are not required to stop at weight stations or inspection stations. They don't want you to stop because it interfers with truck traffic.

I disagree. I suggest you read the signs first. In Florida, some inspection stations may require RVs to stop for inspection. We had to stop a few times at a scale they placed along mile marker 153 on I-10. We were asked to pull over at the electronic truck weigh scale sign located on the Interstate. Usually, we're just asked by the officers a few questions about our rig and they would inspect the tires and run the plates to see if they match. But if there is nothing indicating that RVs should stop, you don't have to.

The most that they will do is ask you a few questions. On the average, they'd usually just let you pass by.

Never stopped at one and we make several trips Florida every year. Never saw a sign that said I had to stop.
