| Great Hudson Valley location tucked in a mature pine forest. | If you're looking to visit and sightsee the Hudson River valley around Rhinebeck NY and Kingston, this is the place. It is also nicely tucked into a mature pine forest, the owners went out of their way to preserve as much as possible. On the positive side, there is a very nice heated swimming pool with snack bar, very clean grounds and facilities and nice landscaping touches. As far as compromises, the roads are in poor shape and half the sites have only 30 amp or less elec. and no black water (most do have grey water though). The owners are however in the process of constant upgrading these to full hookups. Don't expect anything from the small lake, it's overgrown with water vegetation from an energetic beaver population but the wildlife thereof looks of interest. Expect an older campground and moderate prices around $57/nite for a full hookup as well as quiet a few seasonal to permanent house trailers. We work camped here for the two owners who are good folks (so far).

| Unique! It's Right on the Beach!! | 4 stars since it is one of the few we've found in an active beach town and with sites right off the beach. Actually, the majority of sites are across the street (a rather busy street at that) but still heck you are 1/2 block from the water. Sites themselves are small and really packed tight but everyone we met were friendly and so happy to be there. The town of Ft. Myers beach itself is not a 'Miami Beach' or South Beach by any means but you can bike or ride the free bus from end to end and there's everything you need for a nice two-week vacation. About the only minus (other than traffic jams, which are terrible) is a large nice grocery store for longer term living.

| Minimal & Be Very Careful | Although the rates are good the owner is an ill-tempered, very volatile man who finds fault over everything and anything. His manner needs much anger management and RC. Furthermore the bathhouse is a bad joke, the sites are very hard to get in and out of especially for larger RVs (worst site planning we've ever seen), forget wifi and there are no amenities except the riverside location (no fish due to major bank reconstruction). Their lack of business in high season is a clear indication of the truth to this which we didn't realize until we got there. Avoid this place if at all possible.

| Nice Lakeside RV Spots and Lots of Trees | An older campground buried in a temperate rain forest south of Pisgah National Forest. Has lots of charm and good lake access, plus some lakeside RV sites. Unique compared to other lakeside campgrounds; there are full hookups for many of the lake sites. A separate swimming pond was clean, well kept and with good water quality. The lake is good for kayak/canoeing with a nice waterfall only a mile row away. Neighboring Dupont State Forest is packed with hiking trails and other waterfalls (some pretty good ones too). Only criticism are the largely poor-condition gravel roads and limited wi-fi. Also be prepared for lots of rain. Prices are so-so and there's a two-week maximum stay.

Although the rates were okay, the many long-term RVs and trailers tended toward moderate to downright trashy. Thankfully, these were largely grouped in one area and avoidable. The swimming pool is far from the toilets resulting in we observed the pool being used as a commode. Often the bathroom doors were either not operable or locked. We also found the staff hostile and the owners dishonest. The gravel roads were washed out in many places and many sites were flooded after a moderate rain. We would never go back. The only good thing is the proximity to Georgia mountain sightseeing although there are several nice state parks much closer in. The closest town, Cleveland, is very rural but does have a new Walmart.
