| Safe Campground for the Family | If you're looking for a place to go camping with young kids, this should definitely be on your list. Very safe and quiet. The owner of the campground is very nice and friendly. He can be a bit strict when it comes to the policies, especially when it comes to the speed limit here. But for me, I don't mind. Just goes to show that he's concerned about those staying here. Very large sites. Love the beach nearby. Very close also to Pensacola, FL too.

On the upside, the beach by the lake front was really nice. It had a picnic area and a pretty okay playground for the kids. Just be careful making your way down here because it's quite steep and the staff won't bother to help you haul your stuff. Nearly all of the sites didn't have any shade so it can be quite hot, especially when the sun's out. Make sure that you bring you own shade if you do decide to come here.

My husband and I made a reservation at another campground in the area, but it didn't work out for us, so we drove around looking for a nearby place. And we found Colonial Mast. We've never heard of this place before, but we sure are glad we found it. The place is clean, the site is adequate size-wise, and we got full hookups. The staff we met were friendly people, and the campground is a convenient drive to many places of interest in the area. Even if you do choose to stay inside the campground, there's still a lot of things to do like fishing and swimming in the pool. They've got decent wi-fi too, though no cable TV. We're really glad we found this campground and we'll stay here again if we're in the area.

| Rustic Campground with Nice View of the River | There were a lot of trees around the campground, which gave it this woody rustic feel to it. Asphalt covered roadways made it easy to drive around. RV sites were small and close to each other, but provide really great views of the Rogue River. Full hookups are provided on all sites. Friendly staff. Good WiFi reception. Sites were level. Will definitely come back.

| Expected More for the Price | The park grounds were nice and well organized, the staff here was friendly and helpful, and the views along the river are a sight to see. But for the price that I paid for the vacation here, I was expecting that their facilities would at least be well maintained and kept up to date if need be. Their restrooms are complete out of date and were screaming for a remodeling. Had they paid more attention to these kind of things, I would have given a much higher rating.

Since Riverside County manages this park, it is as you expect it - a dry camping site without even a dump station. You can't get a cellphone signal here, so it's really a place for unplugging from the rest of the world. It's a very beautiful place, though. Lots of trees and beautiful scenery. Lots of hiking and biking trails to try out. There are a few things I didn't like about this park, though: 1) the sites are dirt and not level; 2) the bathrooms are dated and don't look clean; 3) No cell signal, which I already mentioned earlier. Otherwise, this is a pretty nice park.

| Not really a resort, but close to it | Miller Creek markets itself as a resort. In my opinion, it's not really one as there are not enough amenities to justify it. Having said that, it's a great place with spotless bathrooms and laundry as well as its very own fitness center and jacuzzi. The sites near the creek are nice and large enough. Full hookups available, along with wi-fi. Perhaps the most notable feature of this park is its owner, who is very much hands-on when it comes to running the park and who is always making sure that the guests are comfortable. It's a nice park and it's a solid choice for staying in the area.

| Not Really Worth the Price | For a rate of $50/night, I'd have to say my expectations were quite high. Needless to say that I was a bit disappointed. The park itself was okay, but nothing really special. The sites were spaced rather close to each other so there's no privacy. No bath houses or permanent restrooms. Just one portable trailer and a few other port-a-potties around. Lots of bugs around as well. Good thing we decided to bring some bug spray.

| Excellent campground with lots of activities | This campground made a nice impression on us. It's very neat and clean. It's obvious that the owners do take their business seriously. The site we got was a pull-through with full hookups, wi-fi and cable TV. We came here to go sightseeing and visit the local attractions, but even if you don't leave the campground, there's plenty of things for you to do, like play tennis and go fishing. There are also a couple of playgrounds for the kids. The only hitch was that the sites were a bit too close together, but it wasn't a problem for us.

If you're just looking for a place to park your rig and sleep at night after a day of sightseeing in Tucson, this place may be enough. Otherwise, it's a disappointment. No amenities whatsoever, just full hookups. The sewer hookup is difficult to use, though; it's so far to the back and you need to have a long hose. No cable and the wi-fi was practically non-existent. On the other hand, the site we got was fairly wide and level and there are desert trails nearbly. It's also quite clean. Never saw the campground host, though.
