| City park campground is nice, but showing its age | |
For campers who will appreciate access to 1.5 miles of Atlantic beaches with ample parking, boating and fishing in a 40 acre fresh-water lake, a camp store, spacious heavily shaded campsites with full modern hookups at reasonable rates, this campground is worthy of consideration especially for families with children. With almost 450 acres, numerous shelters, picnic tables and playgrounds and nearly 300 campsites this park fills up quickly on weekends and holidays. Many sites are pull-through and some are so large that they can accommodate a 45-foot-long RV plus pickup truck and a car.
The park has 24-hour gated security and an additional gate to the campsites which requires an entrance code. Satellite reception is largely unavailable because of large, Spanish moss covered shade trees, but a rooftop antenna will pick up the local Jacksonville digital TV stations. No Wi-Fi is provided by the campground, but nearby cellphone towers provide a strong signal for those who can use cell technology for internet access. This campground will neither post nor receive mail or package deliveries for its guests, but the nearby Atlantic Beach post office gave me excellent General Delivery mail service and even accepted and held FedEx and UPS parcels for me at no charge during the month that I stayed at Hanna Park.
My interactions with the campground hosts, security personnel, store and office staff was always pleasant during my stay.

| Great campground. Close to beach | |
Nice shady sites. Bathrooms could use some updating and cleaning. A little hot in August, shared the campground with maybe 20 other campers. Stayed here in January and there was not a single empty site. All the camp hosts we talked to were very friendly.

| One of our favorites | MrBehr Newbie September 23, 2011 |
We are "RVers" and love to travel, and this is one of our favorite spots. A wonderful Beach literally a 5 minute walk from the campground, biking trails everywhere. We rated this a 4 overall due to the park being a nature preserve, and tons of shade. Current overhaul includes 50 amp throughout. Pros, nice staff and hosts, secluded sites, VERY wooded, stores close by and fresh shrimp and seafood right from the docks. Cons, forget about satellite service, too many trees. no wifi. Camp store leaves much to be desired.

We have stayed here many times over the years in our 32' and 37' fifth wheels, and now in our 45' Motorhome. Roads are narrow but can be done. There are many sites to accommodate larger rigs. Park is in the process of rewiring all sites to add 20, 30, and 50 amps. Many things to do and very close to stores but still secluded and quiet. Walking distance to beautiful beach. Camp store is small. Bathrooms are old, but well maintained excluding the sand being tracked in constantly. Camp hosts are helpful and provided us with shuffleboard equipment any time we ask. Park is some kind of a preserve and they are not allowed to remove plants so most sites are given privacy with local fauna. Site size is dictated by the trees and plants, We will continue to go there as frequently as we can but live in another state.

A beautiful place, lake, trees, beach, but the campground and roads are in bad need of care. Sites needed to be raked and picked up. Roads are very narrow and site small for anything more than 28 ft. The camphost were not helpful at all in trying to find another site for our 35ft. TT that might be a better fit. We will not return.
