Local Directions: From Encampment, WY, take State Rt. 70 west 24 miles to Deep Creek Rd. (Forest Rt. 801) sign. Turn right onto Rt. 801 (also known as County Rt. 801 - gravel) and go 7.4 miles to campground sign (Forest Rt. 830). Turn right onto Rt. 830 (gravel) and go 13.7 miles to stop sign (Forest Rt. 452). Turn left onto Rt. 452 and go 2 miles to campground sign. Turn left into campground. Forest Rt. 830 is closed from May 15 through June 15 for the Elk calving season. NOTE: An alternative route is taking Forest Rt. 443 (6.3 miles west from Encampment off State Rt. 70) 26 miles on a single-lane "improved dirt road." This route is not recommended for low-clearance vehicles or RVs.
