| Zero Stars. Never, ever again | |
Dump trucks and Harleys on tour (Route 49), bugs galore, fees some more, and situated between an apparently popular gun range and an active quarry, with a cantankerous caretaker couple. We have been camping in the White Mountains for 30 years and this was the most miserable experience ever. We decided to bring both trucks to bring all of the toys and were immediately admonished for trying to get out of paying the extra $5.00 per day. Next we were lectured about fines for moving firewood, fireworks, and leaving coolers out. The caretaker seemed offended that we had purchased our ice and firewood before arriving. (We've been camping in bear country a long time.) Showers were $2.50 for 4 minutes and then $2.50 for the next 4 minutes. We hiked Mt Washington the next day and had a blast but it was an hour drive. Being 4th of July weekend and with short notice it was the only site with a shower I could reserve. Next time we will go to Dolly Copp and use the showers at Pinkham Notch.
