Re: Reserving Campsites
I always make reservations in advance, and check on the reservations every now and then. It's bad enough that some RV campgrounds mess up with reservations. I can just imagine the horrors of just going to one and hoping that there's a slot available.

Reservations, no question about that.

Re: Reserving Campsites
That's so true. Sometimes, even if you have a reservation, you can be surprised when you arrive there to the campground, only to find out that you're not in the system. So annoying!

Re: Reserving Campsites
Reservations are always preferred, no question about that. Unfortunately, lots of campgrounds no longer do reservations. Even National Parks are now on a first-come, first-serve basis. Quite irritating actually.

Re: Reserving Campsites
From what I know, National Parks and a lot of private campgrounds have started doing away with reservations because they say that they are losing income from those that would reserve and then not show up. Personally, I feel that's just a bunch of baloney. It's no problem if it's off season, but it can be quite a pain during the peak season, which is, coincidentally when my kids are available to go camping with us.
