Yes there are restrictions, but if you look at the web site, you'll know that in advance. You say there aren't many in your area, if you restrict yourself to only one specific area, then it may not be for you, but if you travel at all you should have no trouble finding them, they have over 1600 CG's, (actually more than that since Camp Club has merged with them.)
We find the 50% savings far better deal than the 10% at GS or KOA. AS far as cost, you can make back the cost on one stay, we saved $135. on one stay at Gettysburg.
I have never heard of what harold is talking about, "State specific"? We've used it from VA to OH,PA, MN, SD, WY, MT, OK, AR, TN,NC & back, never been refused. |
I've never experienced that, but I've had heard a couple of my friends complain the same thing. Decided to do some research about it just to make sure. Apparently, I did find that there are TWO Passport America websites with TWO different addresses: one having the main office in Florida (http://www.passportamerica.com/about) and one having the main office in Mississippi (http://www.passport-america.com/ContactUs.aspx). They have different toll free numbers and contact infos and stuff. I think this is what harold meant that there are two kinds of Passport America memberships. If you're quite new, it can really be very misleading.
harold: Just on the safe side, make sure that the campground is listed in the www.passport-america.com website (it must have a dash in between the words), not the www.passportamerica.com one. The one with the dash is the official website so you're not supposed to have a problem with it in the future. |

| Thanks for the heads up, Matthew. Just went to check out the two websites that you mentioned. You're right! These two websites look so similar, down to the URLs, that it's really deceiving and there is really a good chance that you might get duped. |

| Wow! Never knew that. Thanks for taking the time to research and check that out, Alban. That's very important to know. I just wonder how in the world has that website lasted so long that the real PA hasn't done anything about it. |

My brother-in-law just had a similar problem with PA. With what you found out, I wonder how many people have been duped by it. Why isn't Passport America doing anything about it? |
