Hey Guys and Gals, I am new to the site so i am sorry if this is considered in the wrong section. Forum moderators feel free to relocate. What i want to do is make a couple of canvas tents. These will not be for bringing with me while camping. I have some normal tents for that. I wanted to build these tents in the woods on my property. I was thinking of grabbing some pallets to use for floor boards. Of course i will fill in the gaps and level the earth underneath them. or i will just build a small deck. I was thinking 8x8 for the tents width and length and 6 ft 6 in or so for the center height. I am 6, 1 and would like to have some clearance. I will use wood to frame the tent. My questions are if anyone has any experience doing this and maybe has some insight to some of the challenges i might face in such a project. I also wanted to know if anyone has any good plans that are close to the dimensions(or just good plans). I have been searching but didn't find anything that was impressing me/ had all the information and instructions i needed. What will i need to water proof the canvas properly. Am i going to have to sew these by hand? How strong of a sewing machine will i need? if it can be done by a machine. I want them done for when school gets out so my son can have a little campground for him and his step sister/ friends to camp at. Also it will be nice for when friends come over to enjoy a bonfire. Please if anyone has any experience or maybe some good ideas share them. And some ideas for cots would be nice too. I was thinking a wood frame and woven cotten close line. |
