The B Loop is the one for tents. We stayed in B4, which is by far the largest & most private site. Sites B5 and B6 are very nice as well. The sites have electricity and water. The bathrooms and showers were cleaned daily. There is a campground store that sells necessary items including firewood. The beach is right across the road and is empty and gorgeous. Fort Pickens is just down the road and was an unexpected treat. You can walk all around and through it. There is also a museum that covers the marine life and history of the fort. The campground was very busy, but surprisingly quiet at night.

| Beautiful, peaceful campground | This is a primitive campground in the Eastern part of the Ozark National Forest. It is several miles down a gravel road that's not suitable for big RVs. The campground is the site of an old CCC camp. Sites are mostly large and wooded. I recommend site 11 as well as the ones down by the creek. You can swim in Gunner Pool or in Sylamore Creek. Make sure you hike on the Sylamore Creek Trail which runs through the campground. This campground was full on a Saturday night but almost empty during the week. The only downside was the occasional smell of the chemicals in the latrines wafting through the campground.

Large, well-separated sites with lots of trees. It's across the street from the ocean. Lobster and showers less than a mile away. Very good evening programs. Large stone fire pits.

We had a site right on the beach of Lake Michigan with a view of the Mackinaw Bridge. That is the only nice thing to say. This was a loud crowded campground. People seem to come here to party.

Our site was right on the Bay. Kids could wade out in the lake. Quiet campground, close to Pictured Rocks. No showers. Beautiful sunsets. The host sells firewood.

| On the shores of Lake Superior | Campground is right on a rocky shore of Lake Superior. This park is isolated and quiet. There are showers and a camp store for supplies. No fire grate on the fire pit make cooking difficult.

Quiet park. Showers. Sites are gravel so you need sleeping pads. Nice lake, you can rent a canoe. Most sites are not shaded. The pictures here show the campground well.

This campground is right at the gate of Mt Evans, so there is some traffic noise. There is a restaurant/store across the street. Pretty campground, lots of trees. It's over 10,000 ft and we had mild altitude sickness. I wouldn't stay here again unless I was well-acclimated to altitude.

| Wilderness desert camping | This is a large rugged state park. There are multiple campgrounds. We stayed right on the Rio Grande River. There was a composting toilet but no water. If you like to rough-it, don't miss this place.

| Grass and trees in the desert | This campground is in an old irrigated farm area so there are grass and trees. Unfortunately, there were also lots of mosquitoes (during October). Javelinas were fun to watch. Showers are good and there is a little store. Bring your passport so you can take the rowboat to Mexico!
