| Boondocking and a free hot shower. | Traveling from Denver back to south Texas, I stopped here for the night. Drove to the Northside of lake but it was unkept and isolated. I drove for 30 minutes to other side where I thought I would find a crowded campground. It was up on a bluff above the lake with about 10 sites which had covered picnic tables and fire rings. There are four public bathrooms with flush toilets and hot/cold showers. It was windy on bluff and might get very cold not in June. There was only one other overnighter. Nice, well maintained campground for free. Wow!

This a nice state park. Cottontails, chipmunks, turtles, roadrunners, quails, and woodpeckers are everywhere. But the must is to swim in the giant spring-fed pool. Fish swimming around you. We were there early on a Wednesday so only a few other people were there. It was a little chilly but I went in and it was worth it.

We tent camped here in April 2017. The park is well maintained by the Lavaca River Authority. There are two parks. One is the old state park and the other is newer. Drive around before you pick a site because there are many different kinds. Very friendly staff.

Spent one night in a tent site. The grill and fire pit was very efficient. Most sites are shaded with trees. We had a river view. Sites were big but no privacy from neighbors. Nice walking trails with lots of birds and interesting foliage. Paddle boats available. Showers were on the other side of the park but I did not try them. Caution: be sure to be aware of 4 way stop in the little town this park is in. The signs seem to be a longer distance from the road than most. You will get a ticket.

Found this campsite after finding out Yellowstone was fully occupied. Nice sites with picnic tables and bear vaults. It is close to an airport and is very noisy. Campground is clean and well maintained. We were thankful to find anything on a late Saturday night.

The campground was maxed out but at last minute, they found us a group campsite. If you like crowds and lots of kids, it is a great park. Loved the large outdoor group kitchen to wash our dishes. Bathrooms were nice but there was a long line for the tiny showers. There was a pool that was full of kids and family. Well managed for such a large park.

This park is a little bit of a side trip off the highway but worth it. We drove for several miles thru very rural area then down unpaved forest roads without seeing another car. I was shocked when we got there and the campground was busy but not crowded. Nice campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. Mostly were tent campers. There is a day area next to park. Strangely the road noise was awful. The gravel was very noisy. The pit toilets were clean. The hiking paths were well maintained. Easy hike to falls. Hike or bike to the falls is worth it. We were there end of September 2016.

This park is close to interstate but you barely hear it. The sunset views were awesome. After three weeks in the cold we left our fly off the tent and the stars were just amazing. The moon was a little annoyingly bright it woke us during the night. The showers were huge, park was clean and well maintained. Sites included shaded picnic table.

Nice RV park. I would not seek this one out but pleasant stay. Close to highway but not really noisy. Restrooms clean with nice showers. WiFi was off and on.

what do you get for free. Nice campsite with picnic table and fire pit, outstanding views of the mountains, lake access, pit toilets, no hook ups. We find this site late in the day and it was free with only one other tent camper.
