| Unusual park with pre-made tents on raised wooden floors | Pre-made, heavy "military grade" tents on raised wooden floors, almost all right on the water's edge. Several have good shade. End flaps open fully, side flaps open about 2 feet up from the bottom. Fully screened. All sites have water / electric hookup, picnic table, firepit. A nice place for a night or two.
There is a kids' water park, mountain bike trails, paddle boat rental, and tow-line water skiing. Grab a hold of the cable that goes around the lake, and it will pull you around. Several jumps are there, nice observation area for those who want to watch. The rest of the park is nice, also.

| Few trees due to last hurricane | Used to have lots of trees but Hurricane Wilma took most of them out about 10(?) years ago, so few sites have any shade. Only the last 3 camping loops each have a couple of sites with decent trees and shade. The last loops are closest to the gun range, so I don't know what time the range opens and the shooting starts (for you late sleepers).
Very nice park in all other ways. They have a model airplane field where some people bring seriously large model planes; nice playgrounds; doggie park near the campground area.

| Great park, equestrian section too, in the middle of nowhere | I've been here a few times. First, you have to find the entrance (lots of side roads to get there). The park looks like the African Serengeti with tall grass as far at the eye can see. A couple of miles into the park are the two campgrounds, one for normal people, and one for equestrians. (No insult intended, my daughter is an equestrian). Both areas have only 20 sites as I recall, but considerable shade and sizable sites.
I've only stayed on the "normal" side, but they have clean restrooms, and nice laundry facility. They have a small house for the ranger and a computer that visitors can use. The ranger keeps the firewood storage filled, and, at least the times I've been there, you pay on the honor system. There are no other park facilities. Cell phone service has improved over the years... you can now get a weak signal.
I really like the campgrounds, with one caveat. Its not close to anything. The nearest town is probably 45 minutes away. Basically, you better really like the person you are with, because you have nothing else to do.

| Nice but no shade; near civilization | Several years ago, I was at this park before Hurricane Wilma went through, and area nearest the entrance had quite a few trees. Unfortunately, Wilma destroyed this area, and they leveled it, put in a bunch of concrete pads with no trees. Definitely for RV's only. Also the garbage truck came to the area at 3am which I cannot believe they allowed that. An otherwise good experience was totally ruined by that.
Last year, we went to the other area where there was much more vegetation. The problem is there are no sites with overhead trees. Mostly what I call "pineapple" trees, about 6' high. There was sufficient privacy, but they daytime sun was a killer.
I probably won't go back there until the middle of winter.
