| Amazing view of Mt. Rainier... | ...when you can see it! Clouds often obscure the mountain from view. It's an hour drive to the entrance to the National Park and well worth the trip on a good day. The sites are all back in, with room to park your car next to your front door. There are 4 separate shower facilities, 5 washers and driers in great shape. There's a game room with pool table and shelves of books to borrow.
The staff is terrific. We were delayed 3 weeks getting here for a one month stay because of mechanical problems - needed a new basement heat pump. Instead of cancelling us, they just kept pushing our arrival date ahead - with out charging us. That rates high in my book!

| Best of the best in the Florida Keys | Okay, let's get the bad stuff out of the way first - NO-SEE-UMS! 7% DEET isn't good enough - 15% minimum. And, keep your windows closed - the little buggers can crawl through the screens. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, with different colored stone for driveways and pads. The staff goes above and beyond with service. We were there over Christmas and New Year and they fed everyone Xmas dinner! We had a lot of wind and rain while there (while the rest of the country was freezing), but on the more pleasant evenings many of us showed up at the Tiki Hut for cocktails. There are docks for power boats and kayaks alike. The Dolphin Research Center is right next door and worth a visit. The Wreck Galley and Grill - walking distance - has excellent and reasonably priced fare. I had the mussels appetizer and it was huge - over 20 in a garlic wine sauce. Internet service was strong, the pool - when not loaded with grandchildren - was good for laps (and warm). Water pressure was low - 2 gal/minute, probably a result of the back-flow preventer. Those things are problematic! We met many great people and made a few new friendships. Others we met who were also there for the first were making reservations for next year before they left. We would definitely return - and that just may happen next winter!

| Big, Beautiful and Gators to boot! | This park is huge! There are full hook-up sites with plenty of room, semi-private tent sites, lakeside tent sites, riverside tent sites and huge group sites. There's a 1.3 mile nature trail that takes you to an undeveloped area along the river. You can rent kayaks and canoes - although we have our own inflatable kayak. The staff is friendly and here to make your stay memorable. Overall, we'll be back!

Good Sam rates this park a 10, 10*, 10 ajd that doesn't say it all. We we here over Thanksgiving. The park threw a sit down dinner and provided turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy. Guests provided a dish to feed eight. Seating was set up in the clubhouse for 216, and the place was full. There are a lot of year-round residents - current price is $3600/year! The park is expanding and gorgeous.

Forget wi-fi, it's only available at the office. The general feel of the place is that it's old and rundown. Sites felt like tunnels whacked out of the jungle - good if you don't want any contact with your neighbors. The beach is across the road and very nice - lots of shells for the collector. The river is at the back of the park and has a nice pier and beach. Staff is certainly friendly and helpful, and the cable had a large selection. Just not my kind of park for $66/night. We stayed 3 days out of our two week reservation and got a refund for unused time with a 48 hour notice.

Of all the campgrounds we've in, we'll be back to this one for an extended stay. The owners, Tom and Roxanne took this mountain from a bankrupt logging camp/road to one of the most beautiful campgrounds in just 20 years! The wi-fi is robust, the laundry/showers spotless and great hosts (Jen & Jerry). When we arrived, I asked Jerry were I might find a cigar store and he told me to ask the owner, Tom, as he's a cigar smoker too. Ten minutes later, Tom pulled up in his golf cart and presented me with one of his! He told me about a shop in the Asheville Mall, so I bought him one of mine to return the favor. If you stay here, be sure to visit the Biltmore Estate. To see some pictures visit: http://classaboomers.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

| Have Your Wi-Fi Hot Spot with You... | ...unless you want to take your laptop or pad up to the BBQ restaurant or the office. Seems there are only back-ins for 50 amp service.

In summer it cost as much as the Florida Keys in winter - $90/day incl. taxes. Spaces are virtually on top of each other. Washers and driers are in different rooms with no provided rolling carts to move wet clothes. Trees & bushes need trimming for satellite view. Gravel roads and pads are good and level, although the pads are too close. Sewer dump overflows from back pressure unless screwed in - and even then there's a little leakage. All the work in the park seems focused on winter cabin construction. There's a lot of in and out vs long term campers.
