Stayed here in October, only one of three campgrounds were open, no view of lake, spaces close together, ground is barren, covered with stickers soon, place to walk the dog was on gravel road, quiet but so close together you could hear every sound someone made and see their light, 8 mile drive from 40 on good road.

Spacious, open, not forested, large lake, clean, good service, not secluded unless you are the only one in Chinaberry, lots of gravel that sticks to everything, should have parked door over grass, Cottonwood noisy at S end, vehicles & domestic animals.

Camped midweek in Oct so we had the place to ourselves, view of lake. We entered from hwy 40 on the east side, which was paved most of the way. Had to drive through creek with water, tried west side but road too rough. Two levels to area CG below, beach & showers above.

We had this odd CG to ourselves mid-Oct. Leaves had not changed, river pretty, lots of birds, especially heron from Rookery Island. Few grass sites, most sites in clay-like dirt along river. Trees, trail W of grounds.

Much better than expected, more like a lake than reservoir. Stayed in Oct. Trees were beautiful, birds, wooded surrounding sites which were in grass, placed to walk dogs, water & electrical most sites, some fire rings, secure, a man at host site chose to walk into his tent instead of talking to us.

I appreciated the non-generator section, trails where I could walk my dog, nice service by volunteer. Golden age passport discount. Not too much privacy but #86 was OK.

| Camp only if you have no other choice | City noises, vehicles, train Trash at sites Dark and wet in Oct Sites close together Bright lights No shower No trails No fire rings Looked like indigent campers with makeshift tents Didn't feel safe Posted map not to scale Confusing pricing $25 for tent site but couldn't find them Lots of $ for what you get

| Historic park, nice to visit | Stayed in Oct. Good service, nice flat spot, lake was drained but view was still nice, historic pioneer village was closed but OK for walking around.

Stopped for one night, stayed 2. The 30s loop on the river is beautiful, first loop behind host is OK. Nice places to walk. Stayed in Oct.

Wooded, secluded, private, off the beaten path. Use coordinates from state link on app page. Free, so toilet but no water, no host, fire rings but take your own wood, leave a donation.
