I read the previous positive review of this place and needed to get my RV to the dealer in Idaho Falls, so I made this my Sunday destination. It's a beautiful place, but a little weird for tent campers. 1) The price has doubled - $20 for tent, $30 for hookup. 2) There is a message for tent campers to call host before pitching tent. Do so. There are sprinklers set up throughout the grounds that go on at various times. If you pitch a tent in the tent area, you'll get soaked by the sprinklers at some point. Host was very nice and sent me to a dry site with a beautiful view. He also unlocked one of the bathrooms for me. Apparently, they don't open the bathrooms until Memorial Day. I never understand year round campgrounds that don't have pit toilets somewhere. 3. Gates are locked at 10:00.

| Beautiful year round camp ground | What a find for this off season tent camper! Gorgeous sites, heated bath with shower, nice fire grates! Lots of wildlife (deer, geese, owls and ducks especially prominent). No unexpectedly locked gates at night or bathroom lock code. Perfect for this road tripper.

Gate locked at 7 PM. I can't describe any more since I couldn't get in. You keep forcing me to describe more, but I can't because I can't get in. The only site I see is a locked gate.

I didn't realize the Mojave was so pretty. Had really nice sites and great tent pads. Nice space between them. QUIET! Downside: There's a lot of trash left by previous campers! Grrrrr...

I got here late at night as I often do driving across country. I was grateful to the reviewer who warned about the locked gate, but said the campground was to the right. I was very glad it was open after many previously failed tries at other sites. I got distressed that I didn't have a code for the restroom and the hosts were asleep. A fellow camper was awake and helped me to navigate the rather odd layout and get into the bathroom. This is a city campground. There are no isolated sites. There's a good amount of highway noise, but the views are pretty. It was nice to have a shower, but it's not the cleanest place in the world. I think it's more of the fault of building maintenance (paint slapped on) rather than lack of cleaning by the hosts. I was grateful to have a place to sleep after nearly 700 miles of driving.

| Gate locked at 9 PM thru Oct 31, and 5 PM Nov thru March | I couldn't get in. 15 minutes too late without crossing the timeline. Would love to be able to expand more on this review, but it's really helpful to know why there's a locked gate.

| Reserve ahead for weekends - even in October! | This is a really nice RV park. The rangers and camp hosts were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was traveling through with a tent and a friend. We had planned on staying at a different park, but it was closed due to flood damage. Wound up rolling in here at about 6 pm on the Friday of Columbus Day weekend. The campground was completely full, but a couple of hosts and a ranger went out of their way to help us get a spot, and we were able to pitch our tent in an RV site in which the electric and water were out of service. There was a really nice vibe there - a whole bunch of campers were having a Halloween bash and everyone was really friendly. The facilities are topnotch, and everything is very well maintained. There is a lot of road noise, but it is pretty much right in the middle of Aurora -- really great city camping!

| Beautiful sites, weird military vibe | I stayed here in one of the walk-in tent sites for 2 nights in mid-October. The sites are gorgeous! Totally clean and maintained with a top of the line fire ring and great views of CO Springs from the mountain. It is the only campground I've stayed at that you hear Taps played at 10 pm, and Revielle at 6 am. I have to say the military vibe was a bit off-putting for this former Dead Head, but the campground was lovely, and I was disappointed I didn't have a chance to go for a hike there. There's a lot to see and do around Colorado Springs. It was a really nice visit.

| scenic, quiet, humble. Lots of ponds. Loved this place! | I landed at Walnut Point pretty late at night and pretty late in the season (mid October). It's a fairly sizable park with a great setup for camping. Lots of RV sites with hookups, and also little walk-in tent areas which are really lovely. It is not state of the art by any means, but I really like the tent sites along the water, and docks going into the ponds and such. The fire rings could use updating, and the bathrooms are "campy" but have flush toilets and showers. I learned that they were subject to budget shortfalls this year and had only one employee maintaining it. That one person worked hard! There is more help this year, and I look forward to coming back. It was very quiet, but I don't know how it may be in the heart of the season. I'm definitely glad I sought out an employee on my way out to pay my $8.00 to pitch my tent.

I drove from western CO to camp here on my way out east. I arrived at 10:45 after 620 miles of driving to find the gates locked and accessible only with a code. A sign behind the gates said "camping vacancy". I thought about pitching my tent there, but wound up at a nearby Econo Lodge instead.
