We have camped all the mountain parks and most of the middle Georgia parks, but we cannot say enough about this park. From the trees with Spanish moss drapery to the excellent wide, level and separated sites, this is why it ranks in the top of all the camping directories on the web. Skidaway has picnic shelters, an interpretive center, bath houses in clean and good repair and several miles of walking and bike trails. Some sites are 100 feet apart, some sites have full hook-ups, several sites have water and power. There are a few newly constructed cabins to rent. The park borders Moon River on one side so far away we could not hear any speed boats. The another side borders a "village" of offices and one general market and wine shop. Another side borders a gated community. The only annoying noise is the Air Force jets that occasionally pass over. Savannah with its River Street and historic district is 20 minutes away. Tybee Island is just over 30 minutes away. Will we return? Hell, yes.

The best review I can give is I will return here again and again. Trails are well marked. Good activities for the kids. Park is dark which I think camping should be done in the dark.

The upper loop in the camping area has a sign posted warning large / long trailers or RV motor homes might not want to go this way. Once there, however, I could not back out. If you have a long / large RV, point this out when making reservations with park rangers. Otherwise, I'd like to return as long as I get a long trailer suitable spot.

| Nation's Oldest State Park | It is kept clean. Bath-house near site 34 in good repair - access to fish kind of iffy - playground/swimming area one mile from campground - hiking tails limited - Would I return? Yes, of course.

Selling / reviewing books? | Can I sell a book in a forum? It's about a couple that tries to outrun a rouge FBI agent in their Class "C" Motor Coach.

In this day and age with the availability of views of earth from space, I use google maps for an overhead view of the campsites. So far I have not been caught off guard by what the site and spaces look like. You can get down to a real birds eye view how close the spaces are, the condition of the beaches, and if the campground backs up to the county landfill or the hospital emergency room parking lot. (Think of ambulances all night long coming in. ) :)
