We had a pretty bad experience here. It rained most of the time we were there, and there isn't much to do in Mecosta County when it rains. We tried to fish but there were too many weeds to actually catch anything from off the dock. And the beach was so bad we actually ended up laying out on the volleyball court instead because the sand was better. Also, the people were not very friendly.

This definitely one of the best campgrounds in all of Michigan! Great beach on Lake Michigan with sand dunes, plus more lakefront on Hamlin Lake. Big Sable River connects the 2 lakes with a dam that's great for fishing. Grab a tube and float down the river into Lake Michigan - the ultimate in relaxation!

This is one of my favorite campgrounds in MI. We've stayed here several times. Nice beach, good sites, very close to the Cross in the Woods and accessible to the inland waterways. Burt Lake is a great lake for boating. This is how camping should be.
We stayed here in a 5th Wheel.

Came here for spring break, we were looking for an affordable place to stay in Key West and we ended up here. Super close to Key West, very easy to drive or take a taxi down to Duval St. While many of the campers here are seasonal, we stayed in a tent right on the water -- it was gorgeous! Nice swimming pool which we preferred to the beaches in Key West, nice facilities as well. Overall, great place to stay, I would definitely go back!

As someone who grew up camping in Michigan, PA campgrounds leave a lot to be desired. That said, this place was decent. The campsites were nice, ours was located right on the water. We were left alone by park staff for the most part, which was nice. The facilities could have been cleaner though. My biggest gripe was with all the organized activities, swimming pool, game room, etc. this was hardly camping like I'm used to.

| Family oriented, lots to do, not ideal for young singles | We came up here with a group of friends to get out of Philly for a weekend, just looking for a place to kick back, relax, have a few beers and enjoy nature. Overall it was OK. We did hear that there used to be rattlesnakes living in the tree by our site, which was a little worrisome with 3 small dogs amongst our group. Our site was right next to the rock formation, which was pretty cool, the drumming at 8AM on Sunday morning while the youth group set up for Sunday service was not. Also, we got the impression that the owners didn't want us there since we weren't living up to their "Christian standards". Overall, a decent place for families but that's about it.
