A Parking Lot But Great Base to Hike Trails in the National Park

The views from the campground are great & it is the only option for easy access to the hiking trails at the National Park.

The campground is split into two parts - a tent section & an RV section. The 2-star rating is of the RV section & the campground facilities.

The tent section is nice with sites well spaced offering privacy. The RV section is a parking lot - paved no hook up sites that are close together with little privacy. 8 are longer pull thrus for the bigger rigs & the rest (11 sites) are short back ins.

The most annoying thing about the campground is that it is first come first served, so the rangers never know how many sites are available . The NP is a long way from anywhere & you can show up after a long drive to discover there are no sites free. Also you can have small trailers using the larger pull thru sites meaning the larger rigs cannot find a site as the back ins are too small.

Each site has a picnic table & there is a restroom with flush toilets. The rest room is clean, but old & run down. There is portable water nearby & dish cleaning area although, faulty piping under the sink means all your gray water pours all over the ground - not great for the environment. There is no dump station (although host site has one).

Cell phone coverage is intermittent with AT&T but good service is 0.5 mile away by the main road.

They need to add a dump station, upgrade the facilities & make sites bookable.

We stayed here in a Class C Motorhome.

Good sites, secluded and great location

Solid national park campground close to many of the park's trails. The tent sites are well designed, all set back off a main drive so while you're close to others it feels quite secluded. Clean pit toilets on the tent loop and clean bathrooms with flush toilets a 5 min walk away on the RV loop.

We stayed here in a Tent.
